CHOCONUT TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS – May 10, 2004

 

            The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Supervisors was held at the township meeting room, beginning at 7:30 p.m..  Sup. Stewart called the meeting to order and led in the pledge of allegiance to the American flag.  The roll was called and supervisors Stewart, Dovin and Mattes were present.

Presentation of minutes and treasurer’s report

A motion was made by Sup. Mattes, seconded by Sup. Stewart and unanimously carried by the board to accept the minutes and treasurer's report as presented.

Citizen’s input on the agenda - Public Comment

Elaine wanted to discuss a pothole on Mike Shamberger’s road and a tree located between the McCarthy

and Lovec properties that is rotted and needs to be removed.  The supervisors stated that the hole will be

filled as soon as possible and the tree is too dangerous to be handled by township personnel. 

Reports of the board, commissions and committees

Choconut Township Planning Advisory Board

A meeting was held on the third Thursday in April.  A report was not available.

Choconut Creek Watershed

Jack Davis reported that lives stakes were put in the creek restoration area, geotextile was installed along

with seeding and mulch.

Susquehanna Co. Council of Governments and C.O.G. Sewage Committee

C.O.G. Sewage

A trailer was removed from the park on Kellum Road, percolation tests for sewage are being done and

drilling for a new well may now be in progress.

The PA UCC was discussed at a special meeting.

A motion was made by Sup. Stewart, seconded by Supv. Dovin and unanimously carried by the board to accept the bid of Gray and Gray.  It should be noted that this was the second time this product was ad-

vertised for bid and only one vendor submitted a bid.  There are no other vendors in this area to the best of the supervisors’ knowledge.

No bids were received on this item.  The supervisors will solicit telephone bids. 

 

PA Universal Construction Code Ordinance #32

A motion was made by Sup. Dovin, seconded by Sup. Stewart and unanimously carried by the board to

advertise a hearing for this ordinance, to be held on Monday, June 7, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the township

meeting hall, following which hearing it is the supervisors’ intention to adopt the ordinance at the regular

 

monthly meeting of the board which will immediately follow the hearing on the same night.

NON-Uuniversal Construction Code Ordinance #33

A motion was made by Sup. Mattes, seconded by Sup. Dovin and unanimously carried by the board to

advertise a hearing for this ordinance, to be held on Monday, June 7, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the township

meeting hall, following which hearing it is the supervisors’ intention to adopt the ordinance at the regular

monthly meeting of the board which will immediately follow the hearing on the same night.

NEW BUSINESS

Tire Recycling Program

A discussion was held on the program which is being coordinated by the recycling center in Montrose.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

APPROVAL OF BILL LIST 2004-04, CURRENT BILLS AND PAYROLL

A motion was made by Sup.Mattes, seconded by Sup. Dovin and unanimously carried by the board to approve the bills list, current bills and payroll.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Sup. Mattes, seconded by Sup Dovin and unanimously carried by the board to adjourn the meeting, as there wasn’t any additional business to be discussed.
