Traffic light on Rt. 267 at the Choconut School
Coming soon this year, the Pennsylvania State Department of Transportation will be installing a Full Working Traffic light at the intersection of Route 267 and Stanley Lake Road. This light will help protect our children and residents at this very hazardous intersection. Thanks goes to our Supervisors’ leadership and State Rep. Tina Pickett for getting this project accomplished. Operational dates will be published soon.
Meet our Supervisors - Rudolph “Rudy” Mattes
Rudy was born and raised in Choconut and has been a dedicated community servant for over thirty years. We have seen him working on road maintenance, brush cutting, equipment repairs and has always been a listening ear concerning our problems. We don’t always get to see him as he spends countless hours as a Community Leader serving on the Council of Government. He is Vice President of both the Executive Committee for Sewage and the Planning Commission. He is always keeping his knowledge of State, County and Township on the cutting edge by attending training seminars and workshops both locally and across the State.
Thanks Rudy.

What’s going on in Our Town?
Details
1. The much needed traffic light
was planned by and will be installed by the PA Dept. of Transportation. Maintenance of the light will be contracted locally.2. Ordinance Enforcement has proceeded legally against several code violations to help keep our community safe and healthy.
3. Road repair this past fall has helped keep our rural roads in good condition through an unusual Winter season. Plans for Spring brush cutting and road repair are proceeding well. Careless dumping of tires and garbage is an extra burden on our community and removal of this debris is expensive. Unused tires are breeding places for Mosquitoes that carry the West Nile virus.
4. The Silver Lake Fire and Ambulance Service has been in the considering phase of preparing an ambulance station in Choconut. Please show them your support. This would be an excellent addition to our Emergency Services program. The time saved may mean a life saved.
5. The Northern Tier Coalition is hard at work uniting our surrounding communities in a program of Code Unification that eliminates discrepancies and maintains this portion of Susquehanna County as an example to the rest of our County and our State.
Special and Future Events1. Placing requests for bids for supplies of stone, oil, blacktop, cinders, salt.
2. Watershed Project meetings
